Malibu Hindi Temple Reopening Protocols On Saturday, April 3, 2021
As previously announced, the Temple will reopen for in-person walk-in services only from 10 AM to 5 PM on Saturdays and Sundays indefinitely until further notice.
The Shivarathri program was extremely well-organized and initial data indicates there have been no COVID-19 incidents related to this event. I thank all of you for helping us in this cautious and deliberate reopening of the Temple.
As we take this first step, we are following data which suggests that COVID-19 and its variants are increasing in many states, led by New Jersey and New York. This increase followed a fairly quick reopening in those states. As the number of people vaccinated increases, we expect some positive changes. We will advance the reopening steps progressively and yet cautiously based on this information. The first steps begin on Saturday, April 3rd and Sunday, April 4th.
We wish to limit the time devotees spend inside the Temple and therefore the outdoor archana and aarthi services will continue without any changes. In other words, the indoor services will not be available other than for devotees to follow the line and walk through, pause for the darshan, and exit.
We will be unable to allow any sit-ins or pradakshinas inside the main temple and the Shiva complex. This is expected to change fairly quickly as the circumstances allow based on real time data and information. We request you to continue to cooperate with us and apologize for any temporary inconveniences which this process may cause, albeit for a short period.
We thank you for your cooperation.
