Importance of Navarathri

During Devi Navarathri, the Nine days which are observed are very sacred to the Divine Mother. The Three manifestations of Shakti (Sri Durga, Lakshmi & Saraswathi) are worshipped because all aspects of Spiritual Sadhana are included in Devi Worship. During Navarathri we read Devi Mahatmyam, also known as Durga Sapthasathi or Chandi Mahatmyam, consisting of 700 verses, is a glorious description of the Divine Mother and extols her triumph over all evil forces. She is also known as Tripura Sundari, because her manifestations are always three-fold such as; the three gunas – Satva, Rajas & Tamas; three forms of Sakthi, Ichha(Will), Kriya (Action) and Jnana (Knowledge) etc., Anyone who reads or listens to Devi Mahatmyam with devotion during these Nine days, will be blessed by the Divine Mother in bountiful measure. Let us all surrender to the Divine Mother and receive her infinite blessings.
