ANNOUNCEMENT

Malibu Hindu Temple Closure Update

Namaskaram,

The Malibu Hindu Temple wishes all of you a Happy Pongal and Makar Sankranthi. I suppose it’s not an exaggeration to say that Los Angeles is going through one of the most dangerous times in relation to COVID-19. The last one week on an average showed that the positive cases of coronavirus have never been this high in the past. More importantly, we are in a situation where hospitals are compelled to make decisions about the lives of people that they would rather not. As a result of all these factors and also as a sign of expressing our gratitude to health care workers, many of whom are of Indian origin, we have made a decision to close the Temple for one more week starting from this Saturday, January 16, 2021 to Friday, January 22, 2021.

We at the Temple are truly struggling through this period and making very difficult choices to keep all of us safe. We are also monitoring the situation on a weekly basis and making appropriate decisions based on dynamic circumstances. We realize that this kind of decision making creates an uncertainty and imposes inconvenience in decision-making to visit the Temple. We request you to bear with us and as a community, we will put this behind us with the vaccination drive albeit its slow start.

Thank you and please continue to exercise tremendous caution in your daily lives and take a minute to pray for our health care workers.

Sincerely,

Nadadur S. Kumar
General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer
