About Malibu Hindu Temple

Nestled in the heart of Malibu, our temple stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of Hinduism. Established in 1981, it embodies centuries of tradition, artistry, and devotion. Our architecture, inspired by the grand temples of India, is a marvel in itself. Intricate carvings, vibrant frescoes, and majestic towers tell stories of gods and goddesses, myths, and timeless truths. Located at Malibu Hindu Temple 1600 Las Virgenes Canyon Road, Calabasas – CA 91302., our temple is not just a physical structure, it’s a living testament to the vibrant traditions and cultural heritage of Hinduism.

One of the most captivating aspects of Malibu Hindu Temple is its vibrant festivals. Diwali, the festival of lights, transforms the temple into a spectacle of illuminated beauty, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness. Navaratri, a festival dedicated to the divine feminine, is celebrated with fervor and devotion. These festivals not only preserve ancient traditions but also invite the community to participate actively, fostering a sense of unity and cultural pride.

Beyond its architectural grandeur, our temple pulsates with spiritual energy. The main sanctum, where our deities reside, is not just a place of prayer; it’s a portal to divine communion. Lord Venkateswara, the presiding deity, is the embodiment of grace, while Lord Shiva symbolizes the infinite cosmic energy. Goddess Mahalakshmi graces us with her abundance and prosperity. Each deity, adorned with love and devotion, invites you to experience the divine presence.

Stepping into Malibu Hindu Temple is like entering a timeless realm, where the sacred and the mundane dance in harmony. The air is fragrant with the scent of incense, and the atmosphere is charged with devotion. Engage in our religious practices, where every ritual is a symphony of devotion and discipline. Participate in our festivals, where tradition comes alive in a riot of colors, music, and dance. Diwali, the festival of lights, illuminates not just our temple but also our hearts. Navaratri, the festival celebrating the divine feminine, is a testament to the power of devotion and perseverance. These celebrations are not just events; they are spiritual milestones, marking our journey toward enlightenment.

At Malibu Hindu Temple, we are more than just a community; we are a family, bound together by the thread of spirituality. Our calendar is a tapestry of events that cater to the heart, mind, and soul. From religious ceremonies that transport you into the depths of devotion to workshops that enlighten and educate, there is always something enriching happening here. But it’s not just about what happens within these sacred walls, it’s about what we do beyond them.

We extend our hands in service, reaching out to the larger community. Our volunteers are the pillars of our temple, embodying the spirit of seva (selfless service). From organizing food drives to supporting educational initiatives, our community outreach programs touch lives and bring smiles. By being a part of Malibu Hindu Temple, you are not just a spectator, you are an active participant in our mission to spread love and compassion.

The temple exuded such wonderful and serene vibes. We had a hassle-free darshan of Lord Balaji, which was truly a blessed experience. In addition to the main shrine, the temple also houses deities of other Hindu gods, adding to its spiritual charm. The food served at the temple was absolutely delightful. The tamarind rice stood out with its authentic flavor, and the masala tea was simply perfect.

The Malibu Hindu Temple, located in the scenic hills of Calabasas near Malibu, California, is a stunning example of South Indian architecture. Surrounded by picturesque mountain views, it offers a serene atmosphere perfect for reflection and spiritual connection. The temple features intricately carved sanctums dedicated to deities like Lord Venkateswara, with authentic rituals performed by priests. Well-maintained grounds and frequent cultural events make it a peaceful retreat and a vibrant cultural hub. Easily accessible from Pacific Coast Highway and the 101 Freeway, it’s a must-visit for those seeking tranquility or architectural beauty.Unfortunately, the café opens only at 10:30 and we were there at 9 AM so we missed out on all the south Indian fare.

Amazing vibe, amazing Malibu -PCH view while driving to the temple. Great location. Not all weekends crowded. Both temples- main and palani both gives great vibes. Temple Restaurant is good. Food items are light and clean food. Ordered puri and chai it was super cool. Service is good. You don’t have to buy tickets to visit the temple, it very much open to anyone. Usually people other than Indians not aware of the tradition. So usually you walk in to the temple bare foot no shoes. Great place to meditate.

DO NOT EAT FROM TEMPLE CANTEEN, Very unhygienic and we got sick for a week after eating there. AVOID EATING IN THE TEMPLE CANTEEN AT ALL COSTS. If any good inspector is reading this, please check their kitchen

I recently visited the temple in Malibu and was thoroughly impressed by the beautiful architecture and serene atmosphere. It took me about 45min drive from LA.The option for Archanai ranging from $5 to $35 allowed for a personalized experience. However, the additional cost for food at the food corner was a bit unexpected, similar to a restaurant setup, but it didn't detract from the overall experience.I look forward to returning for prayers and further exploring this beautiful temple. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a peaceful and spiritual retreat. 🛕🙏🏽

Loved this south Indian style Hindu temple near LA. There were multiple shrines for different gods and goddess in Hindu culture. The canteen needs a major upgrade for infrastructure and food taste. What I found a bit odf is that the Vaishnav shrines and Shaiva shrines are built sepatarely with saparate entrances and exit.

Nestled in the beautiful surroundings of Malibu the Malibu Hindu temple is a sight to behold. With its stunning architecture and peaceful atmosphere, it’s a place where you can find calm and inspiration.Walking through the temple, you will be amazed by the intricate designs and colourful decorations. When it comes to food, the temple offers tasty snacks like samosas and pakoras. Another mouthwatering delight is pani puri, dahi puri and pav bhaji. We visited the temple on Jan 1. Though it was crowded but it was well managed by the volunteers. There is no ticket to visit the temple. Infact by the time (around 1230 pm) we reached the temple on Jan 1, it was supposed to be closed (during regular days) but we were lucky and the temple was open to general public. The road to temple is a single lane road and it was crowded due to Jan 1 visitors and we had to face almost 30 min wait on the road and then before the main sanctum we also had to wait but it was worth the wait. Volunteers managed the crowd and made sure main sanctum is not crowded.

Surprised to find such a beautiful Hindu temple in the Malibu mountains. Was driving up to LA and decided to make a detour and stop by to pay respect. Not Hindu myself but very a tuned of its traditions and beliefs. Reminds me of the temples I visited in South Asia a few decades ago. Worth the stop for sure. Seem the Hindu community im the area is quite engaged as they have published lots of events, etc.

My visit to the Malibu Hindu Temple was truly memorable. The scenic drive to get there was a treat, and the staff and fellow visitors were friendly and helpful. The temple's architecture is great, and I enjoyed exploring the various altars. Coming from Toronto, Canada, I appreciated the unique blend of familiarity and novelty. I highly recommend adding this to your itinerary for a memorable experience.

Great place to pray. Guests can sit a meditate, give offerings to gods, or enjoy a live performance. We went on a Saturday and watched a traditional dance. As a non Hindu, I definitely felt the spiritual vibe of this place. Not really a place to go ham on Instagram. It's a place to be felt.

Very interesting architecture and atmosphere. I’m not a religious person but I love to be in that places. Be prepared to take off the shoes. The entrance is free but you have to dress up properly. The naked shoulders, tank tops, and shorts are prohibited.
