Namaskaram,

Happy New Year to all the members and devotees!

This column which was started in 2018 was suspended after the publication of the first article for conduct of elections and other related matters. Since then, we have had elections in the Temple and as President of the Malibu Hindu Temple, I’m very delighted to resume the publication of the articles effective March 2023. In the meanwhile, I would like to summarize some of the achievements in all of the areas. We will publish a more detailed description of each of these items in the near future.

Goals achieved since 2018:

  1. First time in three decades, Malibu Hindu Temple elections conducted officially under the stewardship of election commissioner, a Harvard lawyer.

  2. Temple accounting audits completed for 2018, 2019, and 2020 by an independent CPA firm.

  3. Infrastructure changes since 2018:
    1. Temple foundation restructured and retrofitted in the face of a catastrophic sloping of the four Temples in the structure of the main Venkateshwara Temple.

    2. The upper deck of the Balaji temple completely redone with state-of-the-art technology borrowed from Heathrow airport and fiberglass finish to stop leaks on the floor and on the supporting walls of the Venkateshwara Temple.

    3. Temple sanctum sanctorum floor redone to enable spiritual protocols including abishekam with a smooth flow.

    4. Acharyas in the Venkateshwara Temple have been secured to ensure a spiritual space as per the spiritual protocols.

    5. The secure area in front of sanctum sanctorum where devotees are seated has been refinished to bring it up to date and aesthetically redone.

    6. Priest quarters remodeled.

    7. Temple auditorium rebuilt to state-of-the-art hall to perform marriages and other events and with 500-person seating capacity.

    8. New air conditioning and heating units installed for the first time since construction of the Temple in the 1980s.

    9. Fiber optic internet established for state-of-the-art wifi communication and enabling infrastructure for carrying programs live from the Temple.

    10. The four Temples in the Shiva complex have been completed and are ready to be opened in the year 2023.

    11. Dwajasthambams have been installed on a permanent basis under the management of sthapathi.

    12. Annual temple calendar with glimpses of Temple architecture released from 2021.

    13. Balaji canteen serving on Saturday and Sunday and holidays wide range of Sathvic vegetarian food.

I wish to thank the Board of Directors for taking the Temple toward a Golden Age with Navanirman.

Thank you.
